How can I create and edit videos using the Video Editor?

Step 01: Accessing the Video Editor

  1. Navigate to the Innovation Lab

    • Locate the Studio section in the left-hand panel of the Kosmic interface.
    • Expand the menu if necessary by clicking the drop-down arrow.
    • Click on the Video Editor option.

  2. Open or Create a Project

    • Once inside the Video Editor, you can:
      • Open an Existing Project: Select from previously saved projects.
      • Create a New Project: Choose a suitable aspect ratio (e.g., 16:9, 9:16, 1:1) for your platform requirements.

Step 02: Adding Media to Your Template

  1. Access the Media Section

    • Click on the Media button from the left-hand menu. This will open the Projects panel for media uploads.

  2. Add Media from Your Computer

    • Click the Upload button.
    • Select From Computer and browse files on your device.
    • Choose your files and upload them.


  3. Add Media from the File Manager

    • Click From File Manager in the Media section.
    • Browse through folders or recent files to locate your media.
    • Select the desired file and click Upload.



  4. Drag and Drop Media

    • Once uploaded, drag the media from the Media section to your timeline.

Step 03: Recording a Live Video

  1. Access the Recording Feature

    • Navigate to the Media section and select Record.

  2. Set Up Your Camera

    • Ensure your camera is enabled.
    • Adjust settings such as aspect ratio and timer for countdown recording.

  3. Start and Save Recording

    • Click the Record button to begin recording.
    • Once done, click Stop to save the recording. The video will be added to the Media section and can be dragged into your timeline.

Step 04: Adding Elements to the Template

  1. Access the Elements Panel

    • Use the left-hand sidebar to choose from:
      • Media
      • Stock Videos
      • Photos
      • Giphy
      • Text
      • Audio
      • Effects
      • Transitions
      • Filters

  2. Add and Customize Elements

    • Drag the desired element from the sidebar into the timeline or preview window.
    • Resize, reposition, or rotate elements in the preview window.
    • For text elements, customize fonts, colors, and alignment.

Step 05: Editing the Timeline

  1. Trimming Clips

    • Drag the edges of a clip inward to shorten its duration.
    • Use the playhead to set start and end times.
  2. Adding Transitions

    • Drag and drop a transition effect between two clips on the timeline.
    • Adjust the duration by dragging its edges.

  3. Splitting Clips

    • Position the playhead where you want to split the clip.
    • Use the scissors icon to divide the clip into two parts.

Step 06: Adding and Editing Audio

  1. Browse or Search for Audio

    • Click the Audio icon on the left sidebar to explore categories like Pop, Rock, Jazz, etc.
    • Preview audio tracks by hovering over them and clicking the play icon.

  2. Add Audio to the Timeline

    • Drag the desired track onto the timeline.
    • Use audio settings to adjust volume, trim, loop, or add fade-in/fade-out effects.

Step 07: Adding Captions

  1. Choose a Captioning Method

    • Click the Caption button on the sidebar and select:
      • Auto Captions: Automatically generates captions based on audio.
      • Manual Captions: Manually type and sync captions.
      • Upload Caption File: Import captions from an external file.

  2. Customize Captions

    • Adjust caption timing and positioning directly on the timeline.
    • Edit caption text in the preview window or editor.

Step 08: Applying Effects, Transitions, and Filters

  1. Add Effects

    • Click the Effects tab and drag effects (e.g., Smoke, Fire) onto the timeline.

  2. Add Transitions

    • Drag a transition effect between clips on the timeline to create smooth changes.

  3. Apply Filters

    • Drag filters (e.g., Morning Glories, Tranquil Bliss) onto a clip for visual enhancement.

Step 09: Exporting the Video

  1. Access the Export Menu

    • Click the Export button in the top-right corner of the editor.

  2. Choose Export Options

    • Share as a Template: Allow others to edit or comment.
    • Share on Social Media: Directly upload to platforms like TikTok, YouTube, or Instagram.
    • Download: Save the video to your device.

  3. Finalize Export

    • Review video settings (resolution, frame rate, etc.) and click Export.
    • Save the file to your desired location or share it on your chosen platform.
