What settings can I customize for channels?

Channel Settings

Step 1: Accessing Channel Settings

  • Navigate to the Channel:
    Go to the Inbox section from the main navigation menu and open the channel you want to manage.


  • Open Channel Settings:
    Inside the channel, locate the Settings Icon (represented by a gear or three-dot menu).
    Click on this icon to access the Channel Settings panel.

Step 2: Editing Channel Details

  • Edit Channel Name:

    • In the About Tab, locate the Channel Name field.
    • Click inside the field and type the new name for the channel.

  • Add Channel Description:

    • Below the channel name, find the Channel Description field.
    • Enter a brief overview of the channel's purpose or any key details.
  • Set Channel Visibility:

    • In the Visibility Section, choose between the following options:
      • Public: Allows anyone in the workspace to view and join the channel.
      • Private: Limits access to invited members only.
    • Select the corresponding radio button to update the visibility setting.
  • Save Changes:
    Once updates are made, click the Save Changes button at the bottom to apply them.

Step 3: Managing Channel Members

  • Open the Members Tab:
    Inside the Channel Settings, navigate to the Members Tab to view or edit the member list.


  • Adding New Members:

    • Use the Search Member or Type Email field to find users by name or email.
    • Select the user and click Add to Channel to invite them.

  • Removing Members:

    • In the member list, locate the user you wish to remove.
    • Click the Three-Dot Icon (ellipsis) next to their name to open a dropdown menu.
    • Select Remove to remove the user from the channel.

Tips and Troubleshooting

Issue Solution
Unable to Save Changes Ensure all mandatory fields, such as the channel name, are filled and that your internet connection is stable.
Cannot Find a Member Verify the spelling in the search bar or confirm the user's email is correctly entered.
Visibility Not Updating Refresh the page to confirm the changes have been applied.
