How do I create new channels for communication?

Channel Creation

Step 1: Access the Chat Interface

  • Go to the Inbox:
    Navigate to the main navigation panel and select the Inbox section.

Step 2: Add a New Channel

  • Locate the New Channel Option:
    On the side panel under Channels, click on New Channel.


  • Create New Channel:
    • A popup will appear titled Create New Channel.
    • Enter Channel Name: Input the desired name for your channel.
    • Set Visibility:
      • Public: Allows anyone in the workspace to view and join.
      • Private: Restricts access to invited members only.
    • Finalize: Click Create to complete channel creation.

Step 3: Inviting Members to the Channel

  • Open the Channel:
    Once the channel is created, you’ll be redirected to its interface.

  • Invite Members:
    • Click the Invite button located at the top, next to the member count.
    • Use the search bar in the Invite Members popup to find specific users by their name or email.
    • Select users by checking the box next to their names.
    • Click Add Members to send invites and include them in the channel.

Step 4: Sending Messages and Chatting with Members

  • Typing a Message:
    • Use the message input box labeled “Type your reply” to write your message.
    • Attach files (images or documents) by clicking the Attachment Icon.
  • Send the Message:
    • Click the Send Button (paper airplane icon) to post your message.

Step 5: Reacting to Messages

  • Add an Emoji Reaction:
    • Hover over a message and click the React icon.
    • Choose an emoji from the menu to add your reaction, which will appear below the message.

Step 6: Forwarding Messages

  • Select a Message to Forward:
    • Hover over the desired message and choose the Forward option.

  • Choose Forwarding Destination:
    • Use the Forward Message popup to search for the recipient or channel.
    • Select the destination and click Forward.

Step 7: Mentioning Users in the Chat

  • Tag a User:
    • Type the “@” symbol in the message input box to open a list of channel members.
    • Start typing the user’s name and select it from the filtered list.
    • The mentioned user will receive a notification.

Step 8: Additional Message Actions

  • Reply in Thread:
    Click Reply below a message to start or continue a thread.
  • Copy Message:
    Use the Copy option to duplicate a message to your clipboard.
  • Edit or Delete a Message:
    • Edit: Click Edit Message to modify your message and click Save.
    • Delete: Select Delete Message and confirm the action in the popup to remove your message.

Tips and Troubleshooting

Issue Solution
Unable to Create a Channel Ensure you have permission to create channels or check for internet connectivity.
Invites Not Sending Verify the email address or name is correct, and ensure you’re within the allowed number of members per channel.
Unable to Send a Message Check your internet connection or ensure the channel isn’t archived.
